Lucy proving bugs are cute at Ironbridge exhibition
Insects are not normally thought of as being cute, but young photographer Lucy Farrell disagrees.
The talented youngster won the under 12 category in this year’s British Wildlife Photography Awards with her picture called Who Says Bugs Aren’t Cute.
It will be among many beautiful photos on display at the Jackfield Tile Museum in Ironbridge until September 10.
The exhibition showcases the winners and commended entries from last year’s competition. Bosses said the images were a celebration of British wildlife, in all its beauty and diversity from a range of hugely-talented amateur and professional photographers, including youngster Lucy, from Cumbria.
They say it highlights the great wealth and diversity of Britain’s natural history providing a showcase for the very best nature photography.
The aim of the competition is also to use evocative and powerful imagery as a means to encourage discovery, exploration, conservation and enjoyment of natural heritage.
Established in 2009, the British Wildlife Photography Awards also aim to raise awareness about British biodiversity, species and habitats.
As well as having their work showcased in the exhibition, the winners and commended entrants are featured in a new book.
The exhibition is being held in The Footprint Gallery at Jackfield Tile Museum and is open every day, between 10am and 4pm.
