Steve Chapman, organiser, said: "Whitchurch Blackberry Fair is looking for help to make this year’s 10th annual street festival the best ever.

"To bring the annual mix of music, magic, markets and mayhem to the streets of Whitchurch costs in the region of £12,000 and with major cuts to arts funding the organisers are appealing to businesses and individuals to support the event and make sure it stays out on the street and fee-free.

“The economic climate is tough for everyone, but Blackberry Fair embraces the spirit of positive action and we need everyone in town to really get behind us to make this year’s event happen.

“This is our 10th year and we want to make it a real day to remember.”

Blackberry Fair is looking for volunteers to help with stewarding and fundraising at the event on October 7.

People who can spare some time on the day are asked to contact volunteer organiser Sarah Vaughan at blackberryfair@gmail.com
