The website has also published details of the most expensive streets in the county.

In the West Midland region's most expensive street section the runner-up was the SY12-postcoded Northwood in Ellesmere.

Here the average price of a home stood at £671,787, the website said.

And in third place was Pell Wall, Market Drayton, TF9, where the price of a house was quoted as being £662,198.

Shropshire estate agent Nick Tart said Much Wenlock remained popular, despite the housing slump.

He said: "Much Wenlock is a lovely town. It hasn't escaped price falls that have happened in most places but it is still very popular, particularly its stone cottages.

"New houses don't command the price of traditional homes like this. Much Wenlock also has good schools, good shops and is only 15 minutes from Telford."
