Simon Carloss, who was 49, collapsed while playing with friends at Craven Arms Leisure Centre on Monday evening.

He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but pronounced dead an hour later.

A post mortem was due to be carried out today on Mr Carloss, who ran the Kangaroo Inn in Aston on Clun with his wife, Michelle.

The pair were understood to have recently returned from a belated honeymoon after their wedding in April last year.

Mr Carloss's father, David, said his son had gone to play badminton with friends on Monday evening when he collapsed at the leisure centre.

He added: "He's gone and we are all devastated."

Mrs Carloss, who has been at the pub for more than 10 years, was today too upset to talk about the tragedy.
