A woman called Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service to raise the alarm at about 2.10pm today, however prior to their arrival his leg had been released.

Murray MacGregor, spokesman for the ambulance service, said the man, who was in his 50s, suffered reddening and bruising to his left ankle following the incident.

He said: "The ambulance provided him with advice, before departing. We discharged him at the scene."

Three fire service crews from Minsterley and Wellington were mobilised, which included one pump, one rescue tender with a crane on the back and a fire engine to support the rescue tender. An operations officer also attended.

No action was taken by fire service personnel as the man was released prior to the arrival of the emergency services, who was being treated by ambulance.

Crews left the scene shortly after 2.40pm.
