Two dogs suspected of being pit bull cross breeds have been seized by police officers in Mid Wales.

The dogs were seized from an address in Llanfair Caereinion after officers were tipped off about them being advertised on social media.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers executed a warrant under the Dangerous Dogs Act and the animals are now being kept in kennels while tests are carried out to confirm their breed.

If they are found to be pit bulls the owners will be prosecuted.

Sergeant Tom Marshall said: "We received information that pit bull-type dogs were advertised for sale via social media.

“We were sent photographs of the dogs, and this resulted in the application for a warrant under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

“The dogs will be kept in kennels while they are type-tested, and if they are found to be pit bulls, the owners will be prosecuted as it is an offence to possess this breed.”
