Jobs created as new Telford KFC opens for business
The first customers have been calling in at Telford's latest fast-food outlet.
The new KFC threw open its doors for business, in Rampart Way, on Monday as part of a new 'take a break' hub which will also include Burger King and Costa Coffee near the M54 at junction five.
Dozens of jobs have been created at the new branch, which is close to the newly installed footbridge serving the town centre and Telford Central railway station.
Russ Smith, managing director of Shrewsbury-based operator Gastronomy Restaurants, said: "Our new Telford restaurant is now open for everyone to enjoy.
"We’ve created 60 jobs in our Rampart Way restaurant for local people who all look forward to seeing you soon."
Work on a new Burger King next door is continuing and a new Costa Coffee at the same site is also due to open soon.
The new developments are part of the changing face of the town centre.
An existing KFC branch at Wrekin Retail Park is expected to reopen on December 13 following a major refit.
Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for economic development Councillor Lee Carter said:“It is good for the borough’s economy and means another existing business has been able to expand.”
