Shropshire-based Pave Aways secures contracts worth more than £11m

A building contractor is predicting a positive first quarter after securing a string of new projects worth more than £11 million.

Pave Aways has been named as the main contractor for a £3.3 million contract to build new kitchen and dining facilities at the Ministry of Defence’s Nesscliffe Training Camp, which is where the company’s first job was 45 years ago.

It has been appointed by Powys Council to a £2.1 million conversion of Ladywell House in Newtown into a business centre; a £1.9 million refurbishment of the Ludlow Assembly Rooms; a £1 million project to update the landmark Anstice Building in Madeley, Telford; a £1.3 million development of 13 properties in Pool Meadow, Hadley, Telford; and a £570,000 project for Shropshire Council for two classroom extensions at Shifnal Primary School.

Pave Aways has also been re-appointed to the roofing framework for Wrexham County Borough Council in a deal worth £1.3 million.

Steven Owen, managing director of the Knockin-based firm, said the company’s success was important given the challenges currently facing the construction industry.

“There are tough operating conditions across the construction sector at the moment so it is a great achievement for us to have secured so many of these high profile projects, particularly in our areas of expertise such as new builds and refurbishments as well as the education sector.

“This is not just good news for Pave Aways but for the wider economy of Shropshire and Mid Wales as we are committed to supporting our established supply chain so money is being earned and spent locally.”

Steven added: “We have built our reputation on delivering the highest possible quality of construction and service to our clients and that continues to pay dividends as evidenced by this clutch of recent contracts.”

Pave Aways, which directly employs more than 100 people, is working towards a £35 million turnover by 2022.
