Samuel Paul Hadlington, 19, of Summit Close, Shrewsbury, denies assaulting Christopher Lowe, causing actual bodily harm.

At Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday, Mr Robert Edwards, prosecuting, said Mr Lowe was hosting a birthday party for a friend at his flat in Meadow Place, Shrewsbury in April 2012 when an angry Hadlington walked in uninvited looking for his girlfriend, but Mr Lowe didn't know who either he or the girlfriend was, the court heard.

Mr Lowe said he asked Hadlington to leave and when he refused 'ushered' him out. "He lunged forward in an attempt to get back in the house and I restrained him. Suddenly I felt his teeth sink into my left forearm.

But Mr Danny Smith for Hadlington, claimed his client had only bit Mr Lowe to stop him punching him.

The hearing continues.
