Wayne Edwin Price, 45, and Thomas Gavin Price, 23, both of Lime Grove in Oswestry, were unanimously convicted by a jury of 11 at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

The panel had sat through sickening CCTV footage of the pair punching, kicking and stamping on Mark Price, who is no relation, as he lay on the ground.

They left him bloodied and unconscious outside the TopShop in Laburnum Drive, Oswestry, on April 19 last year.

When police caught up with Thomas Price, he asked an officer: "Is he dead?", the court heard. The pair had admitted causing actual bodily harm but denied intending to cause grievous bodily harm throughout their two-day trial.

"You were using a high level of disgusting violence with one intention, to really hurt Mark Price," said Kevin Jones prosecuting.

The jury was shown pictures of the victim's swollen, bleeding face taken by police on the day of the attack. He suffered swelling and bruising to the right side of his cheek and lips and his nose was bleeding.

"It was only by luck that his injuries were not serious," said Mr Jones.

The video showed Wayne Price falling backwards more than once from the force of his kicks. "You lost your balance because you were giving him all you had," Mr Jones said.

Mark Price described Thomas Price coming towards him in an aggressive manner.

"I carried on walking backwards and slipped," he said. "As I was getting up I was punched to the face, taken in a headlock then carried on getting punched."

During the scuffle he said he saw Wayne Price, adding: "He joined in the assault. I had no chance to defend myself."

Mr Jones said: "Both of them kicked him once at the end and the prosecution says this is to make sure he didn't get up."

The pair await sentencing at a date to be fixed.
