Jak Wright, 26, is subject to a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years for stealing from his employer.

Part of the sentence included 150-hours unpaid work but Shrewsbury Crown Court heard that Wright had failed to attend an appointment for the third time in July.

In February Wright, of Allerton Road, Sundorne, Shrewsbury, was fined £200 for breaching the order and in May had extra hours added to the sentence for another failure to attend.

The court heard Wright had partial care of his unwell grandmother, which had caused him to miss a July probation appointment. His solicitor, Mrs Ruth Edwards, said her client had reached an agreement with his current employer to take three weeks holiday to allow him time to carry out the unpaid work.

Recorder Roger Evans adjourned the case until October 6 to give Wright the opportunity to complete the remaining hours.

“In May, you came within a hair’s breadth of going to jail and by adjourning the case now you are getting a final chance. It is simple. If you fail to complete the work again you will go to prison,” he said. Wright was initially sentenced in November when he was given the suspended sentence, ordered to complete the unpaid work and pay £2,500 in compensation.

He had admitted a charge of theft by an employee having stolen £5,356 while manager at a Carphone Warehouse branch in Shrewsbury.

Wright had falsified returns made by customers before pocketing the cash, which would have been refunded, and had created false trade-in deals while working the Meole Brace Retail Park branch between February and June last year.
