Balaclava thugs rob Shrewsbury woman in her home

Robbers wearing balaclavas threatened a woman in her Shrewsbury home today before stealing jewellery and escaping in her car.

The three men entered the house in New Park Road, at about 6am and threatened the woman, who is in her 50s, before making off with her car and personal items.

The woman was left shaken but was not injured.

The car is a silver VW Golf Estate with registration RK61 0FC.

Officers are carrying out inquiries and are appealing for witnesses.

Shrewsbury CID's Detective Sergeant Matt Hodgson said: "We're keen to speak to anyone who has seen the vehicle, either leaving the area earlier this morning or being driven or left abandoned anywhere since.

"If anyone has information that could help our inquiries then we would ask they get in contact with us."

Any witnesses should ring West Mercia Police on 101 quoting reference 66s of July 10.
