Shelley Glass, 62 and of Noel Hill Road in Crosshouses, near Shrewsbury, admitted causing criminal damage to James Hamner’s Renault Clio on the evening of December 20 last year.

Responding to the appeal, Robert Edwards said that there was long-running animosity between Glass, her partner and their neighbours, the Hamners.

He said that at about 10.35pm on December 20 Mr Hamner was told that a Ford Mondeo on his driveway had had its tyres slashed.

He went to Glass’s house and began shouting out to them, before fetching his Clio and parking it in front of the property, the court heard.

At this Glass came out of the property, got in her BMW and drove it into the Clio twice, denting both side doors. Mr Edwards stressed that there was no implication Glass had been involved with slashing the Mondeo’s tyres.

She was ordered to pay compensation of £500 for the denting on the car, and appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Friday to appeal the amount.

Glass represented herself in court, and said that she and her partner had suffered seven months of “provocation” leading up to the car incident.

She claimed that she did not “ram” the car, and only meant to push it out of the way so she could leave. But a judge dismissed her case, and ordered her to pay another £150 costs.
