Shrewsbury couple admit part in £78,000 social club fraud

A couple have admitted their part in the disappearance of £78,000 from a social club in Shrewsbury.

Graeme and Julie Fidler, of Pickhill in Burlton, near Shrewsbury, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday.

Graeme Fidler, 51, a former steward at Harlescott Social Club in Roseway, admitted fraud and failing to bank money belonging to the club.

Julie Fidler, 40, admitted using criminal property to pay debts.

The offences took place between February 2012 and December 2016.

No details of the offences were given in the brief court appearance and Judge Anthony Lowe adjourned their cases for the preparation of reports.

He said he would consider every sentencing option open to him.

The cases were adjourned for sentence to November 26. Both were granted bail.
