Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery which happened around 12.30n on Wednesday in Silkin Way, Madeley.

It happened between the Station Road crossing and where it goes over the High Street, and is believed to have occurred when two white males, both described as very drunk, with short cropped hair and their tops off, stopped a man on a bike on his way to work.

One of the males, who was more drunk, attempted to take the man's pushbike before assaulting him by headbutting him and then again trying to take the pushbike.

The pair continued along Silkin Way in the direction of Telford town centre, having come from the direction of Sutton Hill.

Officers investigating the incident believe that someone will have seen the males and might know their names.

If you have any information that could help identify the two suspects contact PC Richard Carrington at Telford Police Station on 101 ext 5061.
