The knifeman struck at the shop in Majestic Way, Aqueduct, at around 8pm on Saturday.

West Mercia Police is linking the incident with a robbery at another shop in Russell Square, Madeley, at about 6am on Thursday

Now officers investigating the crimes have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the Aqueduct robbery.

The man police want to speak to

The owner of the shop in Aqueduct, who did not want to be named, said the robbery took around two minutes.

"I was locking up for the night when it happened," he explained.

"This man came in and stood next to the counter.

"He pulled out a knife on me demanding money. It wasn't very nice at all. He left just as quickly has he arrived.

"Afterwards a woman and a girl who were walking a dog on the road reported that they saw two lads running away from the area.

"There was no damage caused to the premises.

"The police are circulating the image of the person on social media and it would be good if someone could identify who was responsible. Somebody must recognise him."

'Degeneration of values'

Retiree David Rogers is a nearby resident and a regular customer at the shop.

He said: "It is absolutely appalling that his has happened on our doorsteps. This is a degeneration of values.

"It's hurting people who are hard working and who are having a difficult time making a living. Over the last few years things have improved in this community now this has happened. I'm disgusted about it really."

Detective Sergeant Lisa Morgan, of Telford CID, said: "We're treating this robbery very seriously and we're doing everything we can to catch the offender and bring him to justice.

"If you know this man please do not approach him but call police on 101 quoting incident 691n of 13 April 2019 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"We're linking the incident to another robbery at a shop in Russell Square, Madeley, Telford, at around 6am on Thursday.

"I'd urge anyone who witnessed either incident, or saw anything suspicious or knows who is responsible to call police as soon as possible."

The amount stolen in the robbery has not been disclosed.
