Three teenagers have been arrested after a man was attacked in Newtown.

The assault happened at dusk along a footpath by the town's Shortbridge car park, leaving the victim needing hospital treatment.

Police in Newtown are appealing for witnesses to what they say was a serious assault that occurred on Friday 2019 between 8.30pm and 8.45pm.

Officers say it happened along the footpath which joins the carpark off Shortbridge Street to the top river path - opposite the public toilets.

They say that a 54-year old man who was with two women and a dog, was attacked.

"He received injuries which required hospital treatment," a spokesman for Dyfed Powys said.

"Three males, two aged 17 and one aged 16, were arrested on suspicion of assault. They have been released on police bail pending further enquiries."
