Woman with 35 past convictions warned to stop offending after using traffic cone in Telford burglary
A woman with 35 previous convictions for a total of 73 offences has been handed a community order after admitting a further seven criminal charges.
Michelle Humphrey, aged 40, of Meadow View Road, Newport, wrote a letter expressing her remorse to the judge before she was sentenced for the latest crimes.
Humphrey had spent six months behind bars on remand waiting for the case to be dealt with and Recorder Christopher Millington KC told Shrewsbury Crown Court on Tuesday that to keep her in custody for longer would be "unjust".
But he warned her that if she didn't stop offending she would face longer and longer sentences.
The court was told that a charge of possession of a knife or blade would carry a minimum sentence of six months.
She had also pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary, two charges of possession of a controlled class B drug with intent and another two charges of possession of class A drugs.
Prosecutor Jaspreet Dhaliwal said that the burglary charge followed Humphrey using a traffic cone to break into Dawley Methodist Christian Centre on the morning of March 6, 2022.
"She was found sat in a chair in the foyer and said she had wanted to get away from her partner."
She had been charged with stealing a number of chocolate bars, an Easter egg and a bottle of water.
Mr Dhaliwal added that a half-eaten chocolate Easter egg was found.
