Bridgnorth nursery looks to build new classroom
A nursery in Bridgnorth is looking to expand and build a new classroom to help reduce its waiting list.
Dad’s The Word, in Ludlow Road, has applied to build an extra classroom and canopy.
It says it would form a separate baby and toddler room and help the nursery take on more pre-schoolers.
The application was lodged last week and is expected to go before planners in the coming weeks.
A statement from the nursery said: “Dad’s The Word children’s nursery opened in September 2016 after the success of Mum’s The Word that had been well established for the previous 10 years.
“We wanted to be able to offer parents in Bridgnorth and the surrounding areas a unique form of childcare, and the settings that we have created at both Mum’s The Word and Dad’s The Word have allowed parents and their children to experience that and have so many wonderful opportunities to learn and play. Since opening in September 2016, Dad’s The Word has gone from strength to strength.
“The nursery has always been full with a lengthy waiting list. As soon as as a place becomes available we can fill it immediately.
“The waiting list continues to grow all the time with parents putting their child’s name down well in advance, sometimes up to two years ahead, in order to secure a place for their child.
“We would like to have an additional room so that we can have a separate room for the babies and toddlers. The baby room could then care for children aged six to 18 months old and the toddler room could care for children aged 18 months to three years old.
“This would allow the children in each room to interact with children of the same age and stage of development.
“This would have many benefits on their development and learning.
“We have had a lot of support from parents, either with children already attending the nursery or those with children on the waiting list, who believe that this planning application would enhance the nursery further and provide their children with even more opportunities.”
