New fertility centre to celebrate launch in Shrewsbury
The county's fertility centre will celebrate its move into a new facility in Shrewsbury this weekend, with families who have been helped.
The Shropshire and Mid Wales Fertility Centre has moved to the Severn Fields Health Village and a plaque will be unveiled to mark the occasion.
A tree will be planted in the grounds of the health village at Saturday's event, to which couples who used the centre's services have been invited.
Also attending will be Shrewsbury's mayor Peter Nutting, past and current staff at the centre and staff that helped with the transition from the old fertility centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Jason Kasraie, head of fertility services at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, said: “This new facility is almost double the size of our previous department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and it gives us the space and the environment that we needed to move into the 21st century, which is really great news for our patients.
“We are all very much looking forward to the opening as it will be a wonderful opportunity for staff to catch up again with some of the couples that we have been able to help over the years – although many often come back to see us.
“It also means that we can show our invited guests around our new premises and shine the spotlight on all the fantastic work that we do.”

"We’re delighted to have been able to play our part in helping the clinic find the fit-for-purpose space it needed for the next stage of its journey, and we wish the team all the best for their future at Severn Fields.”
The new facility is an NHS Assisted Conception Centre, delivering new methods and technology to both NHS and private patients.
As well as IVF (in vitro fertilisation), that includes ICSI (intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection), IUI (intra-uterine insemination), egg donation and FET (frozen embryo transfer).
The new department now consists of a larger secure admin area; an outpatient and diagnostics area, and a clinical hub which features state-of-the-art laboratories, treatment rooms and recovery area.
