Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), which manages the hospital, said three wards were closed over the weekend, but ward 24 reopened today.

Wards 27 and 28 remain closed and the trust is asking people only to visit the hospital if necessary.

SaTH closed two wards to new admissions and visitors last Tuesday after it confirmed five cases of norovirus – also known as the winter vomiting bug.

The affected wards will not be able to accept visitors unless there is a clinical need or a patient receiving end of life care.

Norovirus is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea, which goes away in about two days.
