The Movement Centre, based at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt orthopaedic hospital in Gobowen, near Oswestry, received the donation from the Buffaloes' Chirk Ceiriog Lodge.

The lodge's secretary, Frank Maddocks, handed the cheque over during a visit to the centre with fellow Buffaloes.

Fundraising officer at The Movement Centre, Curtis Langley, said “We were thrilled to receive this donation, and we really appreciate support from the local group.

"The Movement Centre has to raise vital funds every year to support the families that attend the centre, and donations such as this really make a big difference.”

The charity provides specialist therapy for children with disabilities affecting their movement control, including cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome and global developmental delay.

The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, established in 1822, is one of the largest fraternal organisations in the United Kingdom.
