Pictures From The Past – July 12Welcome to this week's collection of nostalgia photos from the pages of the Shropshire Star.By Toby NealPublished Jul 12, 2019 CommentsThe village of Welshampton, as seen in a postcard which was franked in the village on September 23, 1914. It was addressed to Mrs John Nixon – back then and until relatively recent times it was quite normal to address letters to wives using their husband's name. She lived at Priory Avenue, Grassendale Road, Liverpool. The message was: "Dear A. you can meet me to-morrow Thursday. I shall leave here at 9 o'clock. You will know what time I shall arrive at Lime St. Just received your letter Wednesday morning." The signature looks like S.W. or similar.
