Motorcyclist seriously injured after crash on A454 near Bridgnorth

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash near Bridgnorth.

Police closed the A454 in Swancote after the collision between a motorbike and car on Sunday morning.

The crash happened at around 10.40am near the junction with the A458.

Emergency services, including the Midlands Air Ambulance, were called to the scene.

The rider of the motorbike, a man in his 30s, was treated before being taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

An investigation into the crash is under way and police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting reference 238s 240319.

Motorists were warned to avoid the area for several hours after the crash.

West Mercia Police's operations and communications centre tweeted: "Emergency services are dealing with a serious RTC on the A454 Bridgnorth at junction of A458.

"Road closures are being arranged please find an alternative route."

An ambulance work on the scene said: "Joined West Midlands Ambulance in Bridgnorth.

"Aircraft moved to the road to assist transport. Thanks to @WMerciaPolice and members of the public for their assistance and co-operation."
