A total of seven people from Bridgnorth Running Club will be travelling down to the capital to compete in the event on Sunday, April 28.

Sarah Millington, Derek Doody, Sarah Pitt, Hayley Bridgwater, Martin Summers, Tim Powell, as well as Bridgnorth legend and honorary club member Dana Power, are all representing Bridgnorth in what is known as the world’s greatest race.

Club chairman Natalie Carr said that the number of participants was a fantastic achievement and she hoped as many people from the town as possible would be following their progress.

She said: “We are very proud to have seven members taking part in this year’s London Marathon – it is one of the strongest showings in our club history.

“All of them have been training hard and we know they will do us proud. In addition some of them are raising thousands of pounds for charity by competing.

“It is most runner’s ultimate ambition to take part in the London Marathon so they are extremely lucky to have places and we are really looking forward to hearing all about their experiences.”

Anyone interested in tracking the runners as they follow the 26.2 mile route around the capital on Sunday can download the Virgin Money London Marathon app and enter their names.

More than 40,000 people, including some of the world’s leading athletes and a range of celebrities, will run in the event.

Bridgnorth Running Club caters for all abilities and meets on a Monday and Thursday under the Town Hall at 7pm.
