Woman airlifted to hospital after four-car A458 crash

A woman has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a four-car crash in Mid Wales.

The A458 road near Llanerfyl was after the smash happened just before 11.45am this morning.

Dyfed-Powys Police, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue crews and Wales Air Ambulance were all called to the scene.

An air ambulance has also been deployed and diversions are in place.

One woman was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with serious injuries, while a boy was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by road and two further patients were transported to Bronglais General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called at shortly before 11.45am this morning to reports of a four-vehicle road traffic collision on the A458 near Llanerfyl.

"A Wales Air Ambulance, two crews in emergency ambulances and a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle are currently at the scene."

A single carriageway was re-opened at around 2pm as clear up work continues.
