Hughes Architect’s, which has offices in Newtown, Welshpool, Aberystwyth and Cardiff, has acquired 18 Berriew Street in Welshpool which it will renovate as new town centre offices.

Plans are being submitted to renovate the new building, ahead of a move.

Founder and principal architect, Dough Hughes said: "We’ve outgrown our current Welshpool office in Broad Street and have been identifying suitable larger town centre properties to develop.

“As a business we pride ourselves on our local roots and connections and we are keen to maintain our town centre presence. This is important for us as a business that has an active community ethos.

“We are submitting plans to renovate 18 Berriew Street, bringing it back to its original glory.

"We’d hope that our investment will act as an enabler for further investment in Berriew Street which is already a thriving commercial street with its existing independent businesses.”

Plans are due to be considered in the coming weeks and subject to planning approval, work will start on the renovations early in the new year.
