Man airlifted to hospital after lorry crash blocks A41 near Market Drayton

A man has been airlifted to hospital with potentially life threatening injuries after a crash between a car and a lorry on the A41 near Market Drayton today.

The road was blocked between Market Drayton and Hinstock following the collision between a black Mercedes and a Scania HGV.

Jamie Arrowsmith, for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 1.42pm to reports of a collision between a lorry and a car.

"A man in his 60s, who was in the car, was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital with arm and leg injuries and a suspected pelvic injury.

"We had two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire on scene."

West Mercia Police said the man's injuries are thought to be life changing and potentially life threatening.
