The collision happened just after 11am on Sunday on the A41 at Crickmerry.

The man and woman, believed to both be in their 50s, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their next of kin have been told.

Several witnesses to the accident have been treated for shock.

Roads Policing Inspector Nigel Webster of West Mercia Police said: "Our thoughts are with the family of those who sadly died in this collision. We will continue to be offering them support throughout our enquiries at this incredibly difficult time.

"If anyone was on the A41 yesterday morning and has dashcam footage or witnessed the collision we would ask they get in contact with us."

West Midlands Ambulance Service and Shropshire Fire and Rescue were also in Crickmerry following the crash.

Two fire crews were sent from Hodnet and Market Drayton.

A spokesman for Market Drayton Fire Station said: "On arrival at the scene it was evident that a motorbike and an agricultural vehicle had been in a significant collision.

"Tragically it was quickly established that nothing could be done to save the lives of the driver and passenger of the motorbike.

"Fire crews worked closely with our colleagues from the West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police, to treat several witnesses who were suffering from shock, and to preserve and maintain the scene.

"The A41 was closed for some considerable time, to allow for specialist collision investigation work to be carried out.

"We would like to send our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the deceased."

The road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the collision.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and appealing for witnesses.
