If you are a moggy living with four pedigree Bengal cats you would be forgiven for having an inferiority complex.

But it is Robbie the ginger farm cat who is the cat's whiskers, making it as a television and even film celebrity.

Robbie lives with Di and Graham Cheal, and the Bengal cats, near Nesscliffe and had seven years out of the limelight enjoying life in the Shropshire countryside.

Then a couple of years ago the cat, born on a farm near Oswestry, was chosen for a Pet Insurance company photo shot and things have snowballed.

Robbie now features on Tesco cat food pouches and has appeared in several television and online adverts.

Now he is about to feature in a BBC drama.

Di, who runs the Cat World shop in Oswestry's indoor market, said she couldn't give away any details of the drama series but said taking Robbie on set for the filming she had met more than one celebrity.

"It was a friend of ours whose cats were signed up to an agency who told me that Pet Insurance was looking for a ginger cat for an advert. He had done nothing like that before but he took to it really well. Then it progressed to filming which again he settled to quickly. It's just the travelling to London and Birmingham that he is not keen on," she said.

"Robbie is our feline superstar but at home he is still our moggy living among the Bengal cats. He is very vocal and likes to think he is the boss but if one of them were to challenge him I am sure he would run away.

"He is very affectionate and gentle."

Not to be outdone the Bengal cats have their own facebook page, Bengal Cat World, which has more than 100,000 followers.
