Alan Lewis has led the way organising the event, which will go from Oswestry and take runners through Morda and Trefonen.

The race comes after the town's half marathon took place for just one year.

Medals paid for by Polka Dot travel have now been made and depict the town's statue of Wilfred Owen.

Mr Lewis is happy with how things are going, and said: "It has been great so far, we have 400 people signed up.

"All the promotion and things have gone really well, and we have people from London, Scotland and all over coming to the race.

"It is a nice route out of the town from Church Street and back, so it is going to be a great occasion."

Money is being donated to the Borderland Rotary Club who are providing marshals for the race.

More than 100 people will be involved in organising the race, including medics and volunteers.

Mr Lewis thanked the volunteers who are stepping forward to help and is looking ahead to the day.

He added: "I will be making a contribution to the Borderland Rotary Club for the help they are going to be giving to the race.

"It is going to cost a significant amount for medical people and other things.

"All the road closures are sorted now so we are just counting down and looking forward to the race."
