Man suffers head injury in crash with lorry near Oswestry

A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with a head injury after a crash between a car and a lorry which blocked a road near Oswestry.

Four fire crews and paramedics were sent to the scene in Morda Road, Morda, just after 4.15pm today to reports of a crash between a blue Mazda and a white skip lorry.

A man in his 20s managed to get out of the car before being treated for a head injury. He was taken by ambulance to hospital in Stoke.

The road was blocked with a diversion is in place and drivers were asked to find alternative routes.

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 4.16pm to reports of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision.

"We sent one ambulance to the scene, a paramedic officer and a medic is in attendance from the Welsh Air Ambulance but they are in a vehicle.

"The patient is a man in his 20s from the car. He managed to get himself out of the car and he has been treated for a head injury."

The four fire crews were sent from Oswestry and Wellington.
