Shropshire sponsor announced for Shrewsbury Soapbox Derby

A Shropshire car dealership has been been announced as the headline sponsor for Shrewsbury Wacky Races.

Soapbox Derby is coming to Shrewsbury

The event is the first of its kind to be held in the town and will see 44 crazy soapbox cars racing through the Quarry next May.

Hatfields represent both Jaguar and Land Rover in Shrewsbury and the surrounding area.

Oliver Benbow, head of business said: “Hatfields Jaguar Land Rover Shrewsbury are delighted to be the headline sponsor for Shrewsbury’s first soapbox derby ‘Shrewsbury Wacky Races’ next year.

"From the moment I heard about the event, I was curious to find out more, once I knew more about the event it made perfect sense for us to be involved. It is great to see such a new and different event being held in the Quarry, I truly believe it will be a great day out for the whole family.”

Event organiser Sarah from Sarah Belcher Events said: “This is great news for Shrewsbury Wacky Races and the town of Shrewsbury. We are gearing up for this to be a standout event in Shrewsbury’s event calendar next year, one which we hope local residents and visitors will enjoy and grow each year. Shrewsbury Wacky Races will take place on May 26 May and is the town's first soapbox derby. It already has a huge social following of families, sports fans and cycle enthusiasts from across the Midlands.

Combining the best of soapbox racing, live music, entertainment, alongside market town shopping and dining, local residents and businesses are now gearing up to celebrate the launch of this event.
