Severn Hospice’s Kapow event - the county’s biggest inflatable obstacle course - takes place on April 27 and time is running out for people to sign up and take part.

Participants are invited to become superheroes for the day and take on the ten giant inflatables - either solo or as part of a team.

Final preparations are being made ahead of the charity’s 5km challenge at the West Midlands Showground in Shrewsbury.

Severn Hospice events officer Hannah Gamston, is urging people to sign up before online registrations close on April 23.

She said: “It’s just two weeks until hundreds of super fundraisers descend on Shrewsbury’s West Midlands Showground for Kapow.

“We can’t wait to see everyone come along and have lots of fun on our giant inflatables. Events like this are a great way to raise funds so we can continue to help local people and their families when they need it most.

“Don’t forget to register as soon as possible to avoid having to pay extra on the day.”

Phenomenal

The event will help ensure the hospice can be there for families that need its support across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.

Among those taking on this year’s event include Emily Riley, who will lead her team Riley’s Runners, in memory of her husband David who died at Severn Hospice last year.

The team of seven will take on the charity challenge on the first anniversary of David’s death, after he received ‘phenomenal’ end-of-life care following diagnosis of an aggressive brain tumour.

Emily, from Shrewsbury, will have her and David’s adopted son Peter, 2, cheering them as they attempt the course.

Hannah added: “When I first heard Emily’s story I was so touched by how much our care meant to David, his family and friends.

“It’s lovely that they have chosen to celebrate his life in this way while supporting us.”

Registration to sign up for Kapow costs £20 for adults and £15 for children under 16. Registration will be open on the day of the event but at an increased cost.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, over the age of eight and taller than 1.2 metres.

To register for Kapow go to severnhospice.org.uk/support-us/events or call 01952 221350.
