The woman, who was in her 60s and driving a Skoda, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash yesterday, while a second driver was seriously injured.

The Skoda Octavia was heading towards Leominster from Ludlow, while a BMW and a Peugeot Partner Tepee were travelling in the opposite direction when the crash happened at around 7.40pm.

The BMW and Skoda are understood to have collided before the BMW hit the Peugeot.

The driver of the BMW – a man in his 20s – was taken to hospital with serious injuries along with a passenger who is also believed to have been injured.

The driver and passenger in the Peugeot were uninjured, while the Skoda driver's next of kin have been informed and a file passed to the coroner.

Police are now keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident or saw the vehicles and the manner in which they were being driven in the build-up to the crash.

Anyone with information should call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 683S of May 13.
