The Iron Bar in Broseley decided to decorate with daffodils and dragons aplenty for March 1, and shared Welsh cakes with customers.

The idea came from Jaci Clark, a Welsh native who has patronised the cafe regularly since it opened in November.

Owner Paul Bond said: "A few weeks ago Jaci came to us and asked if we would do something for St David's Day.

"We decorated the place with flags and daffodils, I wore a Welsh flag apron.

"It was really good fun, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The Welsh cakes were very popular, we were giving them out with coffee or other things.

"Jaci loved it, the Welsh people in Broseley were really pleased we did it.

"There were quite a lot of new people who said they will come back.

"I wanted it to be a place where people come and meet when we opened."

Paul said their special leek and potato soup also proved popular.

Ros Havard runs the Broseley Guest House near the cafe and she supported the staff on the day.

Ros said: "We had a lovely day. People came into the cafe for the first time, and they will come back again.

"I try to promote Broseley, it's important to support local businesses."
