A fire crew from Tweedale was sent to Ironbridge at about 4.50pm on Sunday.

As well as the severely damaged car, another had slight heat damage.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets. They left the area at about 5.35pm.

Council officers were in the Waterloo Street car park this morning to clear the remaining debris.

The car park is now open as normal, and inspections will be carried out to see if any repair work is necessary.

Councillor Nicola Lowery, ward member for the Ironbridge Gorge, said: "I would like to thank the fire service teams and officers working to clean this up as soon as possible."
