Sheriffhales Parish Council has submitted an application to Shropshire Council to become a designated Neighbourhood Plan Area and have a greater say on future development in the village.

If the application is approved, the council, in collaboration with residents, will be able to create a Neighbourhood Plan to outline the room for expansion, prospective infrastructure and any general future development in the village north of Shifnal.

Having started on Friday, the consultation will run until 5pm on Friday, August 30.

The application submitted by Sheriffhales town clerk Jennifer Cree states: "The area applied for is the existing parish of Sheriffhales, which does not overlap any other neighbourhood areas nor include land within another Parish Council's administrative boundaries."

It adds: "The Neighbourhood Plan will reflect the wishes of residents and the unique character of Sheriffhales; the proposed boundary represents an established administrative and political boundary, which does not bisect any existing or proposed major development sites and is well understood by local residents and the local planning authority Shropshire Council."
