Emergency services attended the scene, where they spent about 30 minutes working together to free the van driver who was trapped in his vehicle.

West Midlands Ambulance Service say the van driver has suffered potentially serious injuries and was airlifted to a major trauma centre in Birmingham.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three appliances from Telford Central and Wellington to reports of a collision between a large goods vehicle and a van.

Murray MacGregor, communications director at West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "On arrival, ambulance staff found a van that had suffered significant damage and had ended up in a ditch.

"Ambulance staff spent around 30 minutes working with firefighters to free the driver.

"He had suffered potentially serious injuries. After treatment at the scene, he was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
