Yeaton Peverey Hall, in Yeaton Peverey, Bomere Heath, has gone on the market for £2,250,000.

It was built by Sir Aston Webb in 1892, who redesigned the facade of Buckingham Palace in 1913 and also designed the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Other known works include the Queen Victoria Memorial and The Mall approach. He also designed the chapel for Ellesmere College.

Sir Webb was the president of the Royal Academy from 1919 to 1924, and the founding chairman of the London Society. He built Peverey Hall for the then owner Sir Offley Wakeman, a wealthy Baronet.

The 11-bedroom Yeaton hall includes seven bathrooms, an orangery, chapel, ballroom, billiards room and servants’ wing which has been converted into five apartments.

Within the grounds there is also a pond and tennis court.

It was used as a school before it was restored by its current owner.

Tony Morris-Eyton, head of Savills in Shropshire, said: “Yeaton Peverey Hall is a fabulous Grade II* country house built at the end of the last century for Sir Offley Wakeman by Sir Ashton Webb, who was famous for remodelling the front façade of Buckingham Palace.

“An outstanding country house of exceptional significance situated in lovely countryside only six miles from Shrewsbury and overlooking beautiful parkland with views on to the Welsh Borders, in about six acres.

“The house was built virtually to an impeccable standard without regard to cost.

“There are also five flats providing an income of £32,000.”

The hall also boasts a large family kitchen, five reception rooms, an indoor swimming pool and tennis court.
