Shane Sutton is enjoying Telford success

AFC Telford United skipper Shane Sutton insists the high hopes he had upon joining the club are being realised.

Experienced centre-half Sutton signed for the Bucks in the summer of 2017 and had a difficult first season, fighting against relegation in National League North.

But now they are in the play-off mix and in the FA Trophy semi-finals. And the 29-year-old is out to continue the feel-good factor by winning at Boston United in the league tomorrow.

“We’re bringing smiles back on people’s faces,” said Sutton.

“It’s about enjoying the last several weeks of the season now.

“We’re 13 points off the top but we’re not exactly out of the title race altogether, and we’re pushing for a play-off position while also being in the Trophy semis.

“This is definitely what I came to the club for.

“I had a lot of fun at Newtown, some great years and big games, but I was looking for success when I came here.

“So, hopefully, this season is just the start of a few successful years for the club.”
