Dragons see Cup run end
Wrexham’s dreams of landing a lucrative third round FA Cup tie with Leicester were shattered after a disappointing 4-0 defeat in Newport last night.
It was always going to be a tough ask for the Dragons and when Luke Young was shown a straight red card after 12 minutes for a crunching tackle on Mickey Demetriou, their chances got a whole lot slimmer.
The visitors showed some good resolve and made it to the break on level terms, but the floodgates opened after the restart.
Padraig Amond was first to strike with Jamille Matt adding a second. Mark Carrington’s own goal made it 3-0 with Dan Butler netting number four.
