Seven-up for Market Drayton Town

Non league | Published:

Market Drayton Town cruised past Newport Town 7-0 to reach the final of the Huddersfield Cup last night.

Seven-up for Drayton

Drayton – who play in Northern One West, three levels higher than West Midlands One outfit Newport – were headed into a 10th-minute lead by Harvey Howells.

Charlie Knowles doubled their advantage seven minutes later and Drayton seemingly had it wrapped up by half-time when Simon Gregory nodded in a Ryan McLean cross.

They went on to add four more goals, with Andre James, Jordan Davies (two) and Daniel Beddows on target.

Whitchurch Alport host AFC Telford in the other semi-final next Thursday.
