Town's Josh Ginnelly joins Burnley

Winger Josh Ginnelly has completed his move from Shrewsbury Town to Burnley after clubs agreed an undisclosed six-figure fee.

The 18-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Turf Moor, after being on trial with the Championship club for the last two weeks.

The clubs have been in talks over the fee for the whole of that time and have finally come to an agreement, without the matter going to a tribunal.

It brings to an end a summer-long saga that started in April, when the youngster rejected the first of two offers of a contract.

Ginnelly never returned to Shrewsbury for pre-season training and instead had a friendly with Norwich Under-21s before linking up with Burnley.

Town manager Micky Mellon said: "I'm glad it's finally been resolved as it's been a long and drawn-out process.

"The two clubs have come to an agreement and I wish Josh well at his new club. I hope he goes on to be a huge success at Burnley and shows the potential that he has."

Ginnelly, who made three substitute's appearances for Town, is expected to go into Burnley's Under-21 squad.

Town chief executive Matt Williams said: "I can only thank Burnley and my counterpart Dave Baldwin for the professional manner in which they have conducted themselves over this."
