Shrewsbury Town await outcome of Shaun Whalley hamstring injury

Shrewsbury Town hope to find out the extent of Shaun Whalley's hamstring problem after the winger was bogged down with yet another injury.

Boss Sam Ricketts revealed Whalley's muscle injury 15 minutes after coming on in the 2-2 draw with Peterborough as the 'biggest disappointment' from his first home league game in charge.

Whalley has only just returned from a six-and-a-half week lay-off after a calf injury and was making his third cameo from the bench, the latest after starting in the Central League Cup on Tuesday.

But Whalley, who impressed at the tip of Shrews' midfield diamond when coming on for Josh Laurent, limped off before Posh managed a last-gasp equaliser to deny Ricketts' men a win at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

"Shaun's probably the biggest disappointment more than anything today," said the new Town chief.

"He felt his hamstring, how bad it is we're not too sure and we'll find out in the next couple of days.

"Hopefully it's not too bad for him because he's only just got back in and you can see the difference he brought to the team when he came on.

"There is a player with real talent. It's really disappointing for him more than anything. He's worked so hard to get back from one injury and it looks like something else has happened.

"We'll do everything we can to get him back as quick as we can."

Whalley picked up his calf injury in the home league defeat to Sunderland under John Askey on October 20.
