Bryn Morris poised to leave Shrewsbury Town for Portsmouth
Portsmouth are closing in on the signing of Shrewsbury Town midfielder Bryn Morris.
Morris had looked set for a switch to Town's League One rivals Luton Town earlier this week.
But the departure of boss Nathan Jones to Stoke has allowed Pompey to make their move and a deal is likely to be completed over the weekend.
Portsmouth are in the market for a midfielder after Ben Thompson's loan spell at Fratton Park from Millwall was ended.
Morris, 22, spent the first half of the season on a successful loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers.
He scored three times in 21 appearances, including the opener in Wycombe's 2-2 draw at Portsmouth in September.
His Montgomery Waters Meadow contract is up in the summer.
The central midfielder, part of last season's run to the League One play-off final, is not part of Sam Ricketts' plans.
Morris, a Middlesbrough academy product who played for England at various youth levels and was captain of the Three Lions under-20s, made 43 appearances in all competitions in 18 months for Town.
