Former Shrewsbury Town manager John Askey agrees new Port Vale deal
Former Shrewsbury Town boss John Askey has agreed a new three-year deal at Port Vale.
Askey, who was sacked by Salop in November, took the reins at Vale Park on a short-term contract in February and guided the League Two side away from relegation.
And Macclesfield legend Askey has penned a new long-term deal at the Valiants – who are under new ownership – after helping the club avoid dropping into non-league.
Askey lost his first four games with Vale but results improved and he assured safety with three games to spare.
He lasted just five months at Montgomery Waters Meadow as a difficult start saw Town go winless in their first nine games.
