Shrewsbury Town first team development coach Joe Parkinson has left the club to join Hartlepool United.

Former Wigan and Everton midfielder Parkinson, who was appointed to work under Sam Ricketts in July, will become new Pools boss Dave Challinor's assistant manager.

Challinor took the reins of the National League side after Craig Hignett was sacked last month.
