Wolves boss Nuno still wants more after comfortable Cardiff win

Nuno Espirito Santo is happy Wolves returned to winning ways against Cardiff – but wanted them to do so by a higher margin.

Nuno's pack put Tuesday's disappointing defeat at Huddersfield behind them by beating the Bluebirds 2-0.

Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez got the goals in impressive style in the first half, but Nuno feels Wolves, who set a club record Premier League points tally with the victory, should have grabbed a few more in the second.

"It was well played in the first half, very well," he said.

"The second half was not so good. Tough, tough game.

"As the game went on, our mobility started to appear, our talent and combinations.

"I'm pleased, especially for the manner we scored. It was well played.

"I'm not so pleased with the second half because we must do better in situations when we have superiority – when we are in front.

"Credit though for the way we defended, until the end of the game, with all the problems Cardiff put you in – throw-ins, corners, through-balls – over and over again.

"Their spirit is incredible. The spirit of Neil (Warnock) passes through to the players, so credit to our players for the way they defended.

"But we should do better in the second half."

Wolves' opener 15 minutes in was particularly pleasing on the eye as Jimenez and Morgan-Gibbs White combined to set up Jota, who coolly slotted home.

"It's about the way you have to play against Cardiff," said Nuno.

"It requires mobility and talent. We have it. When we do it in an organised way, it's good."

Jota then went off in the second half for Matt Doherty, but Nuno insists it was not down to injury.

"He's perfect. It was a decision. We didn't change tactically," he said.

"We balanced the team a little bit more. It was good."

The one negative of the afternoon was that Ryan Bennett picked up a 10th booking of the season, meaning he will miss the next two league games.

"We have to be ready. We'll find a solution," added Nuno.
