The 29-year-old – whose home club is Hawkstone Park – had a strong finish to the event in Muscat, carding rounds of 68 and 69 on the final two days.

Sandstorms and high winds caused the tournament to be delayed on day two, when only 11 players completed their rounds, but Chesters did enough to make the cut with a round of 74 to follow up his opening 73.

Eleven birdies across the final two days though saw him shoot up the leaderboard to finish on four under par for the tournament, just three shots behind winner Kurt Kitayama.

The American completed a remarkable comeback to claim a second European Tour title of the season – he birdied two of the last three holes to win.
